between the wars

I'm still on a 20s-and-30s kick. It's funny, because while the clothes are totally lovely, I do not see myself in them even one little bit-- the silhouette is completely wrong for me. I'm perfectly happy to keep dressing 40s/50s/early 60s, and admire the 20s and 30s from afar.

So here's what's in my head right now:

complete sayersmiss pettigrew

I'm working my way through the Sayers, which is gigantic, although I did skip ahead to read the short stories written after Harriet and Peter were married, because I am a sucker. I'm really looking forward to Miss Pettigrew-- I loved the movie to pieces, and kind of adore every item of clothing (not to mention every hat!) that Amy Adams wore, the entire way through.

Meanwhile, here's some stuff from my vintage photo collection:

This makes me think of the punting scene in Gaudy Night, which is one of my favorite parts.

And some from my family collection:

  1. I love the 20s and 30s!! It's so fun to look at pictures from back then. Every single one is so classy to me! This summer, while visiting my grandma in wyoming, she pulled out TONS of old Polaroids from back then and I was drooooling! It was fabulous!

  2. Lucky you! I'm working my way through a 30's photo album of my family's right now, and it's really fun.
